RECOMMENDATION
Staff is presenting the information to City Council per a council initiative presented by CM Choriki on December 21, 2020. There is no action required at this time.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The City Council issued an initiative on December 21, 2021 to have staff present information on the city's sidewalk programs. There are currently several methods that the city uses to install sidewalks and trails including: road projects, missing sidewalk program, annual pedestrian crossing program, and a few miscellaneous other methods. Funding sources include gas tax, arterial fees, grants, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds, partner funds (MDT, Trailnet, etc), and property owner assessments. Staff will present the existing programs including current funding levels and how project locations are prioritized.
