RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council award a contract for the purchase of Billings Landfill Live-Floor Trailers to Motor Power Equipment in the amount of $462,642.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The live-floor trailers are needed for the new landfill drop-off facility. Trucks and trailers will be used by Solid Waste personnel to haul waste from the new drop-off building to the landfill face. This equipment purchase was advertised on January 29 and February 5, 2021, in the Yellowstone County News and on the City's website. Bids were opened on February 9, 2021, and four bids were received. Motor Power Equipment submitted the most responsible bid that best meets the specifications and needs of the City of Billings.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Award a contract for the purchase of six (6) Billings Landfill Live-Floor trailers to Motor Power Equipment in the amount of $462,642; or
- Do not award a contract and reject all bids. If this contract is not awarded, operations at the Landfill utilizing the new facilities will be greatly compromised.

The purchase of this equipment is included in the FY21 Solid Waste budget in the amount of $510,000. The unused budget will be utilized for other equipment within the solid waste fund.
