Title: 2021 Fire Station No. 4 Roof and Siding Replacement Project

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council reject all bids for the Fire Station #4 Roof & Siding Replacement Project.

BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)

The Fire Station No. 4, located at 475 6th St. W., roof has reached the end of its useful life and the siding system has sustained extensive damage. This project includes replacement of the roofing and siding systems. The project was advertised on 01/22/2021 and 01/29/2021 in the Yellowstone County News. The bids were opened on February 9th, 2021 and 2 bids were received. 

ALTERNATIVES

City Council may follow staff recommendation of rejecting all bids or provide staff with further guidance.

FISCAL EFFECTS

On 2/9/2021 the following bids were received:

This project is budgeted in the Fire Department's FY21 budget for facility improvements, however the one qualifying bid is above the estimated project cost. Facilities and Fire Departments are re-evaluating the bidding process for this project. If all bids are rejected, we are planning to re-bid the roof and siding projects separately to increase the number of bidders.
