RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve the acceptance of $9,000 from the Kakatu Foundation and John Urbaska to be used to fund Coulson Park development. This donation will be used to leverage money from the Natural Resources Damage Program grant doubling the total to $18,000.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Coulson Park master plan was approved by council in March 2020. Matching grant funding is available through the Natural Resources Damage Program, to help fund the construction of Coulson Park.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve the acceptance of the $9,000 donation from the Kakatu Foundation to be used towards the construction at Coulson Park; or,
- Not Approve the resolution and provide staff with additional guidance.
FISCAL EFFECTS
This donation will have a positive impact by increasing the funds available for Coulson Park construction by $9,000 and potentially $18,000.
SUMMARY
The Coulson Park master plan was completed in 2020 and phase one has begun using grant funding from the Natural Resources Damage Program. There was also a grant setup to match private donations to help fund future phases, Big Sky Economic Development applied for and received that grant and has been actively fundraising for the matching portion.
