RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council hold a public hearing and approve this ordinance on first reading, adding recently annexed property to Ward III.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
Torgerson's Real Estate Holdings, LLC. submitted a petition to annex land using the provisions of Section 7-2-4600, MCA. The property is located south of the South Frontage Road and north of the City-County Drain. The property is legally described as Fractions of Government Lots 2 and 3, Section 15, T.1S., R.26E., P.M.M., Yellowstone County, Montana, being unplatted. Said tract of land containing an area of 35.94 acres more or less.
Upon Council approval, this annexation requires a change in the boundaries of Ward III. Two readings are required for this action. The first reading of the ordinance is tonight at this Council meeting, along with a public hearing, and the second reading is scheduled for July 26, 2021.

ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve adding the subject property to Ward III, or;
- Disapprove adding the subject property to Ward III.
Disapproval will not modify the boundary of Ward III and will create a problem where property inside the City Limits is not within a City Ward.

This item has no impact on the Planning Division Budget.
