RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing and pass the proposed resolution to assess property owners for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, drive approaches, and appurtenant features construction costs for SID 2918 (work order 20-12).
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
The final assessment for installation, construction, reconstruction and/or replacements of certain curbs, gutters, sidewalks, drive approaches, and/or appurtenant features or a combination thereof in certain locations in the City heretofore ordered by this Council as W.O. 20-12, South 32nd Street Improvements, to include reconstructing South 32nd Street West between King Avenue West and Gabel Road to a 3-lane street including two travel lanes and a two-way-left-turn-lane. Other improvements include a trail connection from King Avenue West south to Transtech Way on the west side and sidewalk on the east side. Street lights will be added between King Ave West and Transtech Way. The improvements will also include striping improvements on South 32nd Street West from King Avenue north to Monad Road and sidewalk widening on the west side, also from King Avenue to Monad Road. SID No. 2918 (work order 20-12) has been completed by the Finance Department and is ready to spread on the 2021 tax roll.
ALTERNATIVES
City Council may:
- Approve; or,
- Not Approve, the property owners will not be assessed, and the General Fund will be responsible for paying for the improvements.
FISCAL EFFECTS
The total cost spread to the district is $960,000. Assessments range from $2,089 to $267,403 spread over a 12 year period, at an interest rate of 3.69%. The amount assessed per property is stated in the resolution.
