Bids were received by the Street/Traffic Division of the Public Works Department on November 9, 2010, to purchase two 5- cubic yard double dump trucks with sanders and plow assemblies.  These are scheduled replacements and were approved as part of the Equipment Replacement Plan (ERP) and the FY 2011 budget.  The new trucks will also have a 5 year warranty at the bid price.  The present units will be transferred to the Solid Waste Division and be used for landfill road maintenance.  On November 22, 2010, the staff requested and the Council delayed awarding the purchase until December 13, 2010, to allow additional time to review the bids.

The City Council may:

Approve purchasing two 5 - cubic yard double dumps from Bison Ford at the low bid amount of $269,266.00, plus a 5 year warranty of $6,060.00; or

Reject all bids and not award the purchase of the two 5 - cubic yard double dumps.

Staff recommends awarding the bid for the purchase of two 5 - cubic yard double dumps in the amount of $269,266.00 plus the 5-year warranty of $6,060.00 to Bison Ford for a total of $275,326.00.  Staff recommends retaining Units 1184 & 1193 to transfer to the Solid Waste Division.
