PROBLEM/ISSUE STATEMENT

Bids were received for W.O. 10-08 Water Treatment Facility Clearwell Baffle Project on December 21, 2010.  This project consists of adding baffle curtains to Clearwells No. 1 and No. 2 at the Water Treatment Facility to increase the chlorine contact time in the Clearwells.  In conjunction with the baffle curtain installation, Clearwell No. 1 will have the exterior and interior repainted.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYZED

The Council may:
  • Award the contract for W.O. 10-08 to COP Construction LLC in the amount of $936,852.00; or
  • Reject all bids and do not award a contract for W.O. 10-08.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The City received two bids for this project as follows:

Western Municipal $987,300.00
Cop Construction LLC $936,852.00

Funding for this project will be from FY 2011 Water Revenues.

Previously Encumbered $     52,130.00

Remaining Funding: $  163,217.00

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that Council award the bid for W.O. 10-08 Water Treatment Facility Clearwell Baffle Project to COP Construction LLC in the amount of $936,852.00.
