RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor make appointments to the Council committees that were created by Resolution on September 26, 2022.
BACKGROUND (Consistency with Adopted Plans and Policies, if applicable)
On September 26, 2022, Council passed Resolution No. 22-11076, creating standing committees. The committees established include 1) Budget and Finance; 2) Legislative; 3) Local Affairs; and 4) Council Operations. The Mayor must appoint members to these committees within 30 days of the effective date of the resolution. The Budget and Finance committee consists of 3 members; the Legislative committee consists of 5 members; the Local Affairs committee consists of 2 members; and the Council Operations committee consists of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Mayor Pro Tempore. Except for the Council Operations Committee, no two Council Members from the same Ward shall sit on a committee at the same time.

ALTERNATIVES
The Mayor may appoint members to the committees or delay appointments until the next regular business meeting. The Resolution was passed on September 26 and appointments must be made within 30 days of September 26.
