Agenda Item Text:
Approve the Intergovernmental Agreement Amendment #1 among the Arizona Supreme Court, County School Superintendent and Cochise County Superior Court for title funding to provide education programs to juvenile detainees in the classrooms at Juvenile Detention School effective as of the date of execution of the agreement amendment by all parties through June 30, 2014.
Background:
Annual federal funding includes but is not limited to "No Child Left Behind" and is awarded by the Arizona Department of Education for distribution by the Arizona Supreme Court-Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). The IGA is for FY2013 and provides funding to provide education programs to juveniles while detained at the Juvenile Detention Center.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Juvenile Court Services will return the approved IGA to the Arizona Supreme Court-AOC for signature of David K. Byers, Administrative Director. Upon the completed signature by Mr. Byers at Arizona Supreme Court, Juvenile Court Services will return an original document with all signatures completed to the Board of Supervisor's office for the record.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the FY2013 funding totaling $140,634.92 will not be received.
