Approve the Federal Fiscal year Operations Stone Garden, Agreement Number 11-AZDOHS-OPSG-888421-03 between the Sheriff's Office and the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for overtime and mileage for the period of July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 in the amount of $36,287.55.
Background:
The Sheriff's Office has participated in Operation Stone Garden for several years. The Arizona Department of Homeland Security provides funding for the Sheriff's Office to address criminal activity related to drug smuggling and illegal immigration. The funding allocated for overtime and mileage reimbursement is used to deploy deputies on an overtime basis to those areas that are suffering an impact from criminal activity related to illegal immigration and drug smuggling across the international border. These funds are left over from previous funding and have been reallocated.
These agreements have been reviewed and approved as to form by Ms. Terry Bannon, Deputy County Attorney.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Upon completion of the agreements and subsequent authorization from AZDOHS, the Sheriff's Office will initiate spending these funds for Stone Garden operations in coordination with the US Border Patrol.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the Sheriff would need to utilize general fund monies to pay for additional interdiction and disruption operations to address criminal activity related to border issues.
