Adopt Resolution 14-48 canceling the Babocomari Fire District Board November 4, 2014 election for the three 4-year board seats up for election resolving that that board positions are hereby declared vacant; and appointing Thomas W. Schelling as the administrator, effective December 1, 2014.
Background:
A.R.S. 48-802 (D)(4) provides that the Board of Supervisors may cancel the election for Fire District Governing Board seats and appoint the person who filed nomination papers to fill the position when the number of positions is equal to or more then the number of persons who filed nomination papers. A.R.S. 48-803(B) provides that the Board of Supervisors shall appoint an administrator to administer the district with the same duties and obligations of the elected board.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Notify the Babocomari Fire District of the election cancelation; declaration of Board vacancies; and appointment of Thomas W. Schelling as administrator.
