Presentation to the Board by the Elections Department to update them on the status of Vote Centers for the 2016 election cycle and an update regarding prior - and planned - Voter Outreach efforts, including a viewing of a short instructional video produced to teach voters how to use the new voting equipment.
Background:
Following the 2014 election cycle, the Board and County Administration appointed a new Elections Director charged with accomplishing several changes in the Elections Department with a goal of improving the voting process for voters and regaining voter confidence in the accountability and accuracy of elections administration. In May 2015, the Board approved the purchase of a new election system (hardware and software) and in September approved the designation of 18 sites recommended by staff as future Vote Centers.
Staff has researched, identified, procured, installed and trained on the new system purchased; conducted many Voter Outreach sessions and secured contracts with Vote Center locations. Staff would like an opportunity to apprise the Board of current status on each of these activities as well as outline future plans.
