Approve the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, in the amount of $23,930 for a Mobile Technology Lab, effective May 17, 2019 through August 3, 2020.

Background:

The "Mobile Technology Lab" grant will help rural residents build technology skills and confidence through small classes, one-to-one tutoring, and hands-on practice.  Many of the classes will be offered at the Sunsites Community Library, where demand is especially high, but the tech lab will also be available for use in Bowie, Elfrida, Portal, and Sunizona.

The grant funds will be used to purchase laptops, a digital projector, software, and cases for storage and transport.  The grant will also include a project coordinator to prepare and present classes for the public.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

The Library District will purchase equipment in summer 2019, and offer technology programs beginning in fall 2019.

Project is only possible with grant funding.
