Agenda Item Text:

Approve the Joint Funding Agreement with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), United States Department of Interior, in the amount of $766,525.41 to acquire airborne Lidar elevation data for portions of Cochise County.

Background:

The scope of this project is to provide all material, labor and equipment required to acquire high-resolution digital elevation data developed from airborne Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) for an area of approximately 3,060 square miles (1,958,400 acres).  The data will be used to generate Digital Elevation Models (DEM) for use in flood hazard mitigation and preparedness, engineering design and design reviews, geological resource assessment, conservation planning, floodplain mapping, floodplain-management decisions and hydrologic modeling.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Execute Contract.
Manage project to include review of submittals and payments of invoices.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, we would not have the best available data for engineering design, flood studies, and assessment of development.
