Agenda Item Text:
Approve request to withdraw/transfer $50,000 from the General Fund Contingency account to fund the County Attorney Office’s proposed Mental Health Program.
Background:
Annual program costs projected at $100,000. This withdrawal/transfer of $50,000 will fund the Mental Health Program for approximately the latter half of FY 19-20 (50% of the annual costs). For FY21, the Mental Health Program is projected to be funded, fully at $100,000, via reductions in Restoration to Competency expenses; specifically meaning the program, for FY21, will be budget neutral.
General Fund Contingency account current balance is $17,929,202.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
funds will be moved from the General Fund Contingency account (100-9900-491.100) to the County Attorney Department budget (100-0600) for Salary, accompanying Employee Related Expenses (EREs), Training, and Travel.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Mental Health Program not funded for FY20. Mental Health Program may still be funded in FY21, via budget neutral adjustments described above. Project FY20 Restoration to Competency expenses to continue to rise as there is no alternative treatment.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Prepare a minute order certified by the Clerk of the Board and provide original to Dan Duchon.
