Approve the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, in the amount of $36,130 for the Eat Local project, effective May 8, 2020 through August 6, 2021.
Background:
The "Eat Local" grant project will create library collections and events to educate Cochise County residents about locally grown foods, and help them connect with local food producers. These collections and events will be offered at the rural branch libraries in Bowie, Elfrida, Portal, Sunizona, and Sunsites as-well-as the seven municipal libraries in Cochise County.
The grant funds will be used to purchase books and display materials as-well-as covering speaker fees for authors or other presenters. Events will include book discussions and author talks. The original intent was to offer some events in person and others in a virtual format. If the public health situation requires it, all events can be presented virtually.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The Library District will purchase books and display materials in Fall 2020 through Winter 2021. Related events will be offered beginning in Spring 2021.
