Discussion of potential changes to the Sierra Vista/Fort Huachuca Supervisor District Boundaries.
Background:
At the September 17, 2021 RAC meeting, member Rachel Gray expressed interest in reviewing the boundary lines for BOS District 1. Specifically, she expressed concerns on behalf of the City of Sierra Vista regarding the division of Sierra Vista between Districts 1 and 3. Currently, District 3 includes Sierra Vista from 7th street and to the west (the West End) and Fort Huachuca. Fort Huachuca is within Sierra Vista city limits. The question is how this change in district boundaries will affect the populations and communities of interest within Districts 1 and 2. In order to preserve the one person, one vote requirement in the Constitution, districts must have an equal population with no more than 10% difference.
