Agenda Item Text:

Approve transfer of tax deeded property, as described in Exhibit A, to the Cochise County Engineering & Natural Resources Department, for potential transportation or flood control purposes.

Background:

Annually the Board of Supervisors holds a public auction of tax parcels, parcels which are not sold are offered to departments within the County for use to the benefit of the public. Engineering has requested the following parcel, number 106-04-048, be removed from the tax sale, and vested in their department. Annual rainfall within the Whetstone Mountains causes flood water runoff in the area surrounding the subject parcel. In the past, Engineering has installed concrete ditches on Camino de Manana, south of the subject parcel, to convey water to a drainage channel along Highway 90. ADOT acquired a portion of the subject parcel in 1998 to convey runoff, Engineering would like to utilize this parcel for the same purpose. The subject parcel is approximately 0.24 acres.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Execute the deed.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

Parcel will not be transferred.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Record deed and return to the Engineering & Natural Resources Department, attn: Teresa Murphy.
