Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve Agreement with the City of Sierra Vista to utilize the city's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Examiner to provide CDL Testing to Cochise County employees who have been identified as requiring a CDL, at a cost of $150 per employee, effective February 9, 2022.

Background:

Cochise County previously had a Commercial Driver's License Examiner on staff who has since retired.

Since that time, if a Cochise County employee needs to be tested for a Commercial Driver's License, the County has to send two employees to Tucson. One who will be getting tested and one who is already licensed to drive the vehicle.

The City of Sierra Vista does have an examiner on staff. And has offered that examiner's service for use to Cochise County.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Issue Purchase Order to the City of Sierra Vista for this service and begin scheduling with the City.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

Not approving this item will mean that each time an employee needs to be tested for a Commercial Driver's License, two County employees are taken off of work duty for the time it takes to drive to Tucson, have the employee get tested and drive back. This also entails the use of County equipment to travel to Tucson.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Send fully signed Agreement to Marty Haverty.
