Agenda Item Text:
Adopt Resolution 22-04 defining the boundaries of the Cochise County Supervisorial Districts, effective March 8, 2022.
Background:
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 11-212, as amended by Senate Bill 1107 (SB1107) that was approved by Governor Doug Ducey on March 30, 2021, the Cochise County Board of Supervisors is required to define the boundaries of the Supervisorial Districts on or before July 1, 2022, following the delayed release of the United States decennial census data due to COVID-19. The Board of Supervisors approved the Supervisorial District boundaries on November 30, 2021, and on December 14, 2021, adopted Resolution 21-26, formally defining the boundaries.
In light of the Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) redistricting of Congressional and Legislative lines, the county now has 55 precincts. It is necessary to approve changes to the precinct descriptions of the Supervisorial Districts.
