Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Phoenix Police Department and Cochise County Sheriff's Office for reimbursement funding supporting investigation and prosecution of internet child sexual exploitation crimes, effective for five years from the date of signing the IGA.
Background:
This agreement is a continuing agreement between Cochise County and the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with the Phoenix Police Department as the Primary Grantee. This agreement allows the Sheriff's Office to request reimbursement for investigative costs related to child pornography and the use of the internet to lure children as victims of sex crimes.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Continue investigations into the possession, production and distribution of unlawful images depicting minors and the use of the internet to seek children as sexual victims.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
We will absorb a larger financial burden to continue investigations into the possession, production and distribution of unlawful images depicting minors and the use of the internet to seek children as sexual victims.
