Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve the Leslie Canyon Pond Analysis and Design Contract with CMG Drainage Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $219,250.

Background:

Cochise County has been dealing with a detention pond located at the southeast corner of Santa Paula Dr. and Cipriano Dr. north of Douglas. The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has deemed this pond a high hazard jurisdictional dam. The pond breached and during significant rains causes damage to downstream residents and County maintained roads. During site inspections with ADWR, many areas along the berm were found in need of repair. This contract is to procure analysis and design services with CMG Drainage Engineering, Inc. to provide construction plans to modify the existing pond and remove it from ADWR’s jurisdictional dam status. The plans will continue to utilize the storage capacity of the existing pond for flood control purposes, allow the stormwater to overtop an overflow outlet and flow in its natural direction.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

ENR will proceed with obtaining the Purchase Order for the consulting services for this project.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, ENR will not have construction plans to modify the pond and remove it from ADWR high hazard jurisdictional dam status.
