Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve the transfer of $40,000 from the General Fund Contingency to the Elections Department Personnel budget, for personnel costs for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Background:
The Elections Department has experienced an unexpected increase in employee payouts due to the departure of several key personnel this year. While we have worked diligently to manage our expenses, we have unfortunately exceeded our allocated budget for wages. To ensure that we can continue to provide essential services to our community, we are requesting an additional $40,000 from the contingency fund to cover the remaining personnel for the year.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If this request is approved, we will promptly create a budget amendment to transfer the requested funds from the contingency account to the wages account. We will also work to ensure that we stay within our budget for the upcoming year by conducting a thorough review of our staffing requirements and projected expenditures.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If the request is not approved, the Elections Department will exceed its budget for the year.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please review the proposed budget amendment.
