Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve the Crime Victim Compensation Grant VC-25-002 between the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission and the Cochise County Attorney's Office in the amount of $67,466.55, effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

Background:

The award amount of $67,466.55 is to be used by the Cochise County Attorney’s Victim Compensation Program to provide crime victims within Cochise County compensation for injuries and losses received because of a crime. The allocation of state funding to the Cochise County Attorney’s Office compensation program includes $16,678.05 to cover administration costs of the program in accordance with the budget in the grant agreement.  While no match is required for this program, the grant does not cover any ERE.  There will be approximately $3,360 in ERE that will not be covered.  Another source of funding has been identified.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Once approved by the Board, the Department will forward the paperwork to the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission for their final approval, signature and funding.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

This is a mandated service and Cochise County would be responsible.  Also, victims in Cochise County would not receive compensation.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
