Information

Agenda Item Text:

Approve grant award # 31032124 from the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise for the Keeping Care Local Proposal, in the amount of $10,000, effective October 29, 2024, through October 24, 2025.

Background:

Provide information to the community at large that the medical facilities in Cochise County are trusted sources to meet essential medical needs, while easing the strain to patients of having to travel and having to take additional time off from work. The grant funds will be utilized to support a public service campaign focused on keeping care local.

This county wide messaging will work to build trust in securing medical services in the county, thereby reducing the strain to patients by limiting travel that directly impacts time away from work, family and agricultural responsibilities. It also keeps revenue in the county to utilize toward infrastructure.

The deliverables associated with this award are solely internal. A dashboard will be established for each partnering health care institution that will measure total patients served for one calendar year, subsequent to the completion of the campaign, to demonstrate a marked increase in utilization by the community. Additionally, a separate dashboard will be established with the results of patient satisfaction survey scores from each participating health care institution in that same time frame denoting satisfaction in the patient experience when interacting with the local healthcare system.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

If approved, Cochise Health and Social Services along with the 5 health care partners, Canyon Vista Medical Center, Northern Cochise Community Hospital, Benson Hospital, Copper Queen Community Hospital and Chiricahua Community Health Center, will meet with the advertising firm to design the "Keeping Care Local"campaign.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, we risk Cochise County residents traveling to other counties to receive their primary care, thereby not keeping revenue in Cochise County.
