Approve Amendment 1 of Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) CTR067930, between the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and Cochise County Health & Social Services (CCHSS) for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BFPC) Programs, in the amount of $676,410 for WIC and $63,824 for BFPC, effective October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.
Background:
CCHSS has offered WIC services for over 30 years to pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women; and infants and children up to the age of 5. The assigned caseload for FFY 24 is 3,080.
The overall goal of the WIC and Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program is to increase food security, and reduce hunger by providing income eligible participants access to nourishing food; and nutrition and breastfeeding education.
This is a grant-funded cost reimbursement program from ADHS in the annual combined amount of $740,234. The IGA supports wages, EREs, and program expenses for 11 positions.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The WIC Program has provided valuable nutrition education and food packages to families of Cochise County for over 30 years. We aim to continue providing these essential services to income eligible families.
