Approve Grant Agreement E5S5G01C with the Arizona Department of Transportation, Aeronautics Ground for drainage improvements at the Cochise County Airport in Willcox, in the amount of $180,000, with a County match of $18,000.
Background:
Cochise County Airport is located in a Floodplain and is susceptible to flooding. The available funds will be used to improve drainage at the airport and reduce the likelihood of flooding and pooling of water on the airport taxiways and runways.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Direct the County's Airport consultant to move forward with the design and procurement of a contractor for drainage improvements.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Drainage will not be improved, and the taxiway and runway will flood, limiting airport use during rain events.
