Agenda Item Text:
Discussion and possible selection of a candidate to fill the vacancy for the County Recorder position.
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03, Subsection (A), paragraph (1), the Board may enter into executive session for discussion or consideration of employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, demotion, dismissal, salaries, or resignation of a public officer, appointee, or employee of any public body.
Background:
The County Recorder position has become vacant due to the resignation of David Stevens, effective February 28, 2025. In accordance with A.R.S. § 16-230(A), the Board of Supervisors is responsible for appointing a qualified individual from the same political party as the outgoing official to serve for the remainder of the term or until the next general election.
After receiving and reviewing letters of interest, the Board conducted interviews with selected candidates. During this meeting, the Board will deliberate on the qualifications of the interviewed candidates and may take action to appoint a new County Recorder.
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(1), the Board may enter into executive session to discuss or consider the appointment before making a final decision in open session.
