Presentation and discussion on the status of the Cochise County Jail Planning Study, selection of an Owner’s Representative, site evaluations, and next steps in the planning and development process.

Background:

The Cochise County Jail Planning Project is progressing through critical planning and development stages to address the county’s long-term detention facility needs. As part of this effort, the County has engaged Chinn Planning Inc. to conduct a comprehensive Jail Planning Study. This study includes an assessment of the criminal justice system, inmate population forecasts, operational concepts, and facility space requirements for a new jail, as well as evaluations of potential sites.

Additionally, the County has initiated a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to select an Owner’s Representative to oversee strategic planning, design, and construction phases, ensuring cost and schedule management and risk mitigation.

This agenda item provides an update on the project’s progress, initial key findings, and next steps, allowing the Board to review developments and provide direction as needed.
