Adopt Resolution 25-25 Directing the County Treasurer to Remit Funds Collected from Taxes Levied in Common School Districts Not Within a High School District.
Background:
In accordance with amendments to A.R.S. § 15-992(F) enacted by Laws 2022, Chapter 285, and further directed by HB 2173 (2024), Cochise County levied additional taxes in 2023 and 2024 on five common school districts not within a high school district. As of June 30, 2025, the Treasurer has collected $1,863,611.70 from these levies. Resolution 25-___ authorizes the Treasurer to transmit these funds, and any future delinquent collections, to the State Treasurer for deposit in the state general fund to aid in school financial assistance, as mandated by HB 2173.
