Approve Resolution 25-27 accepting funding under the State of Arizona General Appropriations Act 2024 - 2025, also known as House Bill 2897, for the Cochise County Sheriff's Office to purchase pepperball and pepperball weapons, in the amount of $56,600.
Background:
During the 2024-2025 legislative session, the state of Arizona appropriated $56,600 from the Peace Officer Training and Equipment Fund to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office for pepperball and pepperball weapons. We will use the funds to purchase pepperball training, weapons, equipment and supplies for our sworn and detention staff. Pepperball is a very effective non-lethal system which is an indispensable tool for patrol, investigations and detention personnel.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):
The Sheriff's Office will purchase new Pepperball systems, equipment and training to replace our current aging gear.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Sheriff's Office will request general fund monies to replace current, aging Pepperball systems and equipment.
