Information
Agenda Item Text:
Approve Amendment 3 to Agreement M22-0051 between the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA), Cochise County and the Cochise County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), effective October 1, 2022, through December 31, 2027.
Background:
AZDEMA M22-0051 CCSO, PIBRC, PIT vehicle grant is a grant to purchase 15 vehicles for the use of pursuit intervention and law enforcement needs. The award amount of $1,947,500.00 includes the vehicle, police equipment (lights, siren, cage, etc.), and fuel and maintenance. The original contract is dated October 1, 2022, to December 31st, 2024. Due to supply demands, vehicles, police radios, bumpers, consoles, and prisoner dividers are extremely hard to get and caused a delay in fulfilling this grant. An extension request was previously submitted to AZDEMA. The extension request was granted for one year to December 31, 2025, in order to get all the vehicles in and up-fitted. A third extension was recently requested and granted to extend the contract to December 31, 2027. This will ensure funds remaining will be expended for the 15 vehicles.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office will use the remaining funds for miscellaneous accessories and fuel and maintenance.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
If not approved, the previously awarded and unused funds (approximately $384,000) will not be expensed. Not granting the extension would place a greater burden on Cochise County to find funding for vehicles needed by the Sheriff's Office to provide effective enforcement within Cochise County.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please approve AZDEMA M22-0051 Amendment 3, extension request to December 31, 2027. One signed copy will remain with the Cochise County Sheriff's Office and 1 signed copy will be sent to AZ DEMA.
