Agenda Item Text:
Approve Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between U.S. Marine Corps and Cochise County to access fenced Cochise County property to stage military vehicles and construction materials, at no cost to either party,
Background:
U.S. Marine Corps is currently stationed in Douglas to assist the Border Patrol Station (BPS) with providing engineering support, specifically focusing on barrier reinforcement and the demolition of unserviceable obstacles. They have exhausted the space BPS has off Kings Highway and need a space to store equipment and construction material. This IGA will allow the U.S. Marine Corps to access up to 3-acres of fenced in Cochise County property just North of the BPS off Kings Highway. The U.S Marine Corps is aware that this property does not have any utilities.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
If approved, the U.S. Marine Corps can continue to assist the local Douglas BPS with engineering support and have a secure area to store equipment and construction material.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The U.S. Marine Corps will not be able to assist the local Douglas BPS with engineering support.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Please forward signed copies of the IGA to Public Works Director Jason Faccio & Mayra Moreno.
