Background:
The county received a special use request from the City of Bisbee to restore and redevelop the Camp Naco site located at 2118 and 2133 W. Newell Street in Naco, AZ. The phased project will establish Camp Naco as a historic exhibit and community resource. Broader goals include organizational infrastructure to ensure site sustainability and implementation of community programming to preserve the historic camp. Proposed future uses requiring special use approval include a museum, library, gift shop, bookstore, art studios, classrooms, ten cottage homes (former officer's quarters), and outdoor recreational facilities.
