Accept Homeland Security grants in the aggregate amount of $9,500: Homeland Security grant for $2,500 for training, Homeland Security grant for $2,500 for exercise, Homeland Security grant for $2,500 for planning; Homeland Security grant for $2,000 for Citizen Corps.

Background:

The Homeland Security grants period for these FFY2012 grants runs until September 30, 2013. The Training grant will pay for the books and expenses for the FEMA courses that this office teaches in and around Cochise County as well as travel to other approved training courses; the Exercise grant will pay for any exercise expenses for any exercises conducted and paid for by this office as well as travel to other exercises in Arizona; the Planning grant pays for travel expenses associated with any planning activities conducted by this office; and the Citizen Corps grant will pay for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes conducted in Cochise County.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Emergency Services will complete the required paperwork and forward this to the Arizona Department of Homeland Security to finalize the grant process.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If these grants are not approved, the money will revert back to the Arizona Department of Homeland Security. The projects listed will not be funded and will not be accomplished.
