Discuss the FY 2013 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding Cycle for Cochise County and get possible direction on which activities or projects to pursue with CDBG Funding from the regional account.
Background:
Approximately $170,000 is available to Cochise County from the Arizona Department of Housing CDBG Program for FY13. The County may also competitively apply for funding from the State Special Projects Account should funding become available in the future (any amount unknown at this time). CDBG funds must be used to benefit low-income persons and areas, alleviate slum and blight, or address an urgent need.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Based on the public input received at two CDBG public hearings, the Board will provide direction on which activities or projects to pursue with the available CDBG funding and submit to the Federal Government. The Board may also propose other activities or projects within their respective districts. First Public Hearing held January 8, 2013. The January 29, 2013 Public Hearing has been rescheduled for February 26, 2013.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The grant money will not be used by those who need it in Cochise County.
