Agenda Item Text:
Approve the purchase and installation of a Containment Trap and Target System from Action Target, Inc for the Sheriff’s Office Firing Range in the amount of $205,894.49 plus applicable use tax.
Background:
Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. 13-34-SHF is scheduled to be approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 23, 2013. The Sheriff’s department is requesting the purchase of a containment trap (bullet retrieval) & target system for the firing range from Action Target System. The target system is available off GSA Program 1122. On January 18, 2011 the Board of Supervisors approved a cooperative agreement to purchase off the GSA 1122 program thus precluding the requirement for competitive bids. However, the Procurement Department forwarded alternative target systems available from other vendors to the Sheriff’s office for consideration. The Sheriff’s Office determined that the system from Action Target most closely met their desired needs for the intended purpose and their budget.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Issue purchase order. Schedule installation. Monitor contract performance.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
An alternate target solution would have to be determined.
