Agenda Item Text:
Ratify a letter to the BLM from Chairman English regarding the proposed SunZia route and Cochise County jurisdiction.
Background:
Should the county decide to protest the SunZia final EIS/RMP, the basis to use is that the BLM failed to recognize that the County has the right to coordination because it is a local government and thus, coordination is required by federal law. It would be good to get this on record by sending the letter whether or not the County decides to protest SunZia. This, at least, sets the stage for remaining BLM efforts, be they energy projects or the new RMP for the SPRNCA. Because the comments were due by July 15, the letter had to be sent before the Board meeting of the 23rd.
