Acceptance of Grant of Drainage Easement traversing the North 50 feet of parcel number 410-12-026, which connects Washington Avenue to Highway 80.

Background:

Washington Avenue ponds in this area every year, facilitating a breeding ground for mosquitoes. It is in the public’s interest that water be directed through Ms. Pastrano’s property to a branch of the Palm Grove wash to the southwest. Property owner fully supports the project and its benefit to the area. Property owner was not interested in monetary compensation and requested installation of culverts in exchange for easement.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

If approved, project will be scheduled for construction to be completed before Christmas.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If not approved, rights will not be conveyed and work to remove water will be in conflict with property rights.

N/A; Property owner was not interested in monitary compensation and requested installation of culverts in exchange for easement. Installation of culverts is estimated at $5,000, which is less than the anticipated $7,000 cost of right-of-way. $5,000 is to be paid out of department's material line.
