Discussion and possible direction regarding the Fiscal Year 2016 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding Cycle for possible activities or projects to pursue with CDBG Funding.
Background:
Approximately $214,600 is available to Cochise County from the Arizona Department of Housing (AZDOH) CDBG Program for FY16. The County may also competitively apply for funding from the State Special Projects Account and/or Colonia Set Aside Funds should funding become available in the future (any amount unknown at this time). CDBG funds must be used to benefit low-income persons and areas, alleviate slum and blight, or address an urgent need. A special income survey may be required for any project selected. That survey must be completed and the results approved by AZDOH prior to the final Public Hearing. Any project considered must have been brought up at the Public Hearing held on January 26, 2016.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Based on the public input received at the Public Hearing held on January 26, 2016, the Board will provide direction on which activities or projects to pursue with the available CDBG funding. A Public Hearing is scheduled for March 8, 2016 to announce the project(s) selected by Resolution. Applications are due to AZDOH on April 1, 2016.
