Discussion and possible direction on updates to the 2005 adopted Road Design & Construction Standards & Specifications for Public Improvements.
Background:
A key recommendation of the 2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan, accepted by the Board in March of 2016, was to initiate an update to the 2005 adopted Road Design & Construction Standards & Specifications for Public Improvements. This need was identified to bring the County’s Design Standards current and to include changes intended to allow for more fiscal flexibility in road design. SVMPO planning funds were awarded to undertake this effort in February 2017. The preliminary draft version includes one new roadway cross-section, six revised roadway cross-sections and 40 updated design details.
