Pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03(A)(3), the Board may go into executive session for legal advice from its attorneys.
Background:
Sara Ransom formerly represented Cochise County in water law related matters, including the Gila River/San Pedro adjudication. Sara left the County for private practice on July 15, 2019. The City of Sierra Vista has now retained Ms. Ransom to represent the City on water law matters. She and the City have asked the County to waive any conflicts of interest, and to execute a conflicts waiver. The County Attorney will be recommending approval.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
Ms. Ransom could not participate in confidential discussions among the County and other parties should the interests of the County and City become unaligned.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
Have the Board Chair execute the waiver, have the County Attorney and Ms. Ransom sign it, then distribute the executed waiver to the parties.
