Agenda Item Text:
Approve Grant Agreement with the Legacy Foundation, for assistance with the County Attorney's GRACe Program, in the amount of $3,000, to issue September 30, 2020.
Background:
The County Attorney's GRACe program diverts people charged with mostly nuisance offenses, who have been diagnosed as seriously mentally ill, out of the criminal justice system and into the mental health system. Many participants in the GRACe program do not have drivers licenses, social security cards, and other identifiers that are necessary to apply for jobs or benefits. The County Attorney successfully applied to the Legacy Foundation to pay for these incidental costs, estimated to be about $3,000 per year. This Grant Agreement establishes the terms of the Grant.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Receive the grant from the Legacy Foundation
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
There will be no funding to pay for copies of drivers licenses, social security cards and the like.
To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:
The County Attorney will send the signed Grant Agreement to the Legacy Foundation for signature by its CEO.
