Agenda Item Text:

Approve Contract #1878 between the Cochise County Superintendent and Graduation Solutions LLC, for the Dropout Recovery Program that runs from July 1 through June 30, for the 2021-2024 school years.

Background:

To meet eligibility requirements, students must be high school age (16-22 yrs.) and must not have been enrolled in a high school for 30 days prior to entering the program. Students must complete the required courses of their "learning plan" and meet all state requirements to graduate. Grad Solutions is an accredited institution and will provide the instruction from highly qualified teachers. The CCSSO will be responsible for reporting to the AZ Department of Education. The CCSSO will partner with Douglas Unified School District to provide diplomas to all students who meet the graduation requirements.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

The CCSSO will provide names and contact information to Grad Solutions of students whom have dropped out over the last 3 years. Any of those students who are engaged will be assigned to the CCSSO.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

If this contract is not approved, we will not be able to reach these "opportunity youth" - students who are between the ages of 16-24, who are neither working or in school.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Please sign 3 copies of the contract agreement and forward 2 back to the School Superintendent.
