Docket SU-20-18 and  Z-20-15 (Ft Grant Solar) A request for a special use authorization to approve the construction of approximately 125-140 acres of solar panels and associated equipment on 140.95 acres of land (SU-20-18). A request to rezone the property from R-36 (Residential, one dwelling per 36,000 square feet) to RU-2 (Rural, one dwelling per 2 acres) (Z-20-15). 

Background:

The Applicant, Greenstone Land Holding, LLC, requests a Special Use Authorization to approve the construction of approximately 125-140 acres of solar panels and associated equipment on 140.95 acres of land. The installation of a solar energy power plant is subject to site development standards contained in the Cochise County Zoning Regulations and requires Special Use Authorization from the Planning and Zoning Commission in a rural zoning district. A Rezoning Application is also included to rezone the property from R-36 to RU-2.  All rezoning requests receive a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning and Commission but must be approved by the Board of Supervisors. The proposed site, which includes parcels 202-05-018 and 202-05-002, is located near the southwest corner of the intersection of N. Fort Grant Road and N. Hamilton Road, 7.5 miles north of the City of Willcox, AZ.
