Adopt Resolution 21-06 supporting efforts to transfer ownership of the Cochise County Airport to the City of Willcox.
Background:
County staff is currently coordinating with the City of Willcox to explore the feasibility of transferring ownership of the Cochise County Airport to the City of Willcox. The City of Willcox has expressed an interest in taking ownership of the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires a transfer approval by county and city Resolution to demonstrate each government organization's political will to continue the process of transferring ownership.
Department's Next Steps (if approved):
Development Services will continue to work with the FAA and the City of Willcox to determine if transferring ownership of the airport is in the best interest of each government organization.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The process of coordinating efforts with the FAA and City of Willcox will cease.
