Agenda Item Text:

Approve the reappointment of Mr. Ray Klumb to the Cochise County Building Code Advisory and Appeals Board to fill the architect position for a three-year term to expire on September 25, 2023.

Background:

Mr. Klumb was appointed to the newly established BCAAB in September 2013 and has served three terms. His reappointment would fill the professional architect position with a three-year term which expires on September 25, 2023. The BCAAB unanimously recommended approval of his reappointment at their April 7, 2021 board meeting.

The Cochise County Building Code Advisory and Appeals Board was established in September 2013 as a seven-member board to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the Building Official regarding application and interpretation of the adopted building codes; to determine the appropriateness of alternative building materials and construction methods; and to advise the Building Official and Development Services Building Safety Division on proposed revisions or additions to adopted building codes.

Mr. Klumb is currently a licensed architect in the state of Arizona and has been an active member on the Building Code Advisory and Appeals Board.

Department's Next Steps (if approved):

Following a successful appointment, staff will notify Mr. Klumb of his reappointment.

Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:

Should this reappointment not be approved; the Building Code Advisory and Appeals Board will lack a professional architect board member.

To BOS Staff: Document Disposition/Follow-Up:

Please send Mr. Klumb the standard letter from the Board of Supervisors' office affirming his appointment, along with the Oath of Office.
