Agenda Item Text:
Discussion and Possible Direction regarding county investment of the American Rescue Plan funds.
Background:
In May 2021, Cochise County received 12.5 million in aid from the Federal Government as part of the American Rescue Plan Act. This is the first tranche of funding, with the second tranche expected in 2022. This funding is intended to turn the tide on the pandemic, address its economic fallout, and lay the foundation for a strong and equitable recovery. The US Treasury also released guidance on how these funds can be used to address county needs. While the legislation and guidance provide flexibility, there are significant decisions for the county to consider in the use of these funds, and subsequent reporting.
Proposed Outcome: Provide direction for ARP funding through July 31 and lay a framework for future decisions.
