Approve an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Cochise County Library District and Ash Creek Unified School District No. 53, for the continued operation of a library district branch located at Ash Creek Elementary School, effective July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2025.
Background:
The Cochise County Library District has operated a branch library at Ash Creek Elementary School since the 1978 / 79 school year. The branch serves as a joint school and public library. The existing agreement for the operation of the branch library was adopted in 2002, and confirmed without changes in 2012.
Updating this agreement was prompted by the upcoming retirement of the longtime branch manager. Most of the changes are clarifications to the existing terms; the only substantive change is that the new agreement must be renewed after four years rather than continuing indefinitely.
The Library District administration is comfortable with this change and hopes to move forward with the updated agreement.

The Library District will continue to operate the Alice Woods Library at Ash Creek School through June 30, 2025.
Impact of NOT Approving/Alternatives:
The Library District will not have a current agreement for the operation of the branch library.

This IGA requires signatures from the Chair of the BOS and the County Attorney's Office. Please return two originals to the Library District. Library District staff will retain one fully executed original and give one to the Ash Creek Unified School District for their files.
